The rarest of the rare!! The regular Style C without the PG RATING is extremely rare itself and had a print run of around 500. It was issued for international use only so it did not need the U.S. PG Rating. There are zillions of bootlegs/restrikes of that version. This version with the PG rating is incredibly rare! It has been said that well under 100 are in existence. After Star Wars became a phenomenon, this PG rated version was issued for a few Special U.S. theater engagements only. THIS IS A PRINTERS PROOF!! In virtually flawless shape too! Printer's proofs normally are handled by many people and are often thrown away. About Printer's Proofs: Before a poster was printed in large quantities, the printer would print a limited number of test posters. Commonly, they would leave the color chart on the left edge of the poster, which added an extra inch to the width of the poster (which explains why the poster measures 28" x 41"). These would then be shown to people in a position to "OK" them. Once they were approved, the final posters would be printed and the proofs normally were destroyed. A printer's proof is far more rare than a regular one sheet poster, and there is no fear of purchasing a reproduction.

This is truly an incredible find. When is the last time you saw a vintage ROLLED never folded original one sheet from the 1970's? This is what all you Star Wars fans have been waiting for!!! An ORIGINAL one sheet, not one of the countless bootlegs/repros you see everywhere. This is a beautiful example of an original FIRST PRINTING 27"X41" U.S. one sheet movie poster from the classic "Star Wars". These are very difficult to find in any condition. UNUSED!! NEVER FOLDED!! Another super close up picture A long time can go by without one of these coming up for sale. Graded C9-C10 Near Mint to Mint condition. Virtually flawless. You will have trouble finding a nicer one. When buying collectibles it is always wise to buy "the best of the best" as they stand a greater chance of appreciation. This poster is considered to be within that class and is definitely INVESTMENT QUALITY. Finding rolled/never folded one sheets for most titles prior to the mid 1980's is EXTREMELY difficult! Most collectors will pay a HUGE premium for a rolled one sheet compared to a folded one in the same condition.

The style A one sheet was printed at least 4 times in 1977. This version with NSS # 77/21-0 is the first printing. This one always commands a premium over the other versions. There are known reprints and/or reproductions of this poster. THIS IS NOT ONE OF THEM!! This is guaranteed to be a genuine ORIGINAL MOVIE POSTER issued by the studio when the film was first released and meant for theatrical display. We are absolutely certain it is authentic. Bootlegs have a "hair" on Luke's belt area. This does not have the hair. See close up photo. This is the most bootlegged and reproduced poster on planet Earth!! It is extremely difficult to find an authentic one. About half the ones sent to us for consignment have to be sent back because they are reproductions. Comes with a Certificate of Authenticity.

Designed by Howard Chaykin, this poster was issued in 1976 well before the movie was released in May 1977. It is said that only 1000 were made (some say more) and it was sold/given away at the San Diego Comic Con and in comic book stores to promote the Marvel comic book. Extremely rare and highly sought after, these very rarely are offered for sale. Most probably did not survive because at the time no one knew what a phenomenon Star Wars would become. The rarest of the rare!! Photo shown is of the actual poster for sale. There are less than a handful of these in existence (no one really knows for sure exactly how many, but all experts agree there are most likely less than 10). This is certainly the only one currently for sale anywhere in our galaxy! A huge poster!! Originally printed on four separate pieces. Featured on the cover of the 11/15/98 Butterfield's Auction catalog. A perfect candidate for Linen Backing. Some minor storage wear including a few small edge tears and one large tear on the bottom left section up to the letter "T" repaired on the back with acid free archival removable tape. When linen backed and displayed this will appear MINT!!

The following text was taken from the Star Wars Poster Book 2005: "The large seven-sheet Advance is formally called an "out-of-home" poster, since most were printed for small billboards and transit stations. These were probably distributed to just Los Angeles, New York, and San Francisco, which had the only theaters to open Star Wars in 70mm, a fact called out on the poster. The poster is unique because it is the only one that has the May 25 release date, a date immortalized by Star Wars fans."

To collectors, some of the most desired posters are the Advances for Star Wars. Very hard to come by in any condition. Extremely rare. Originally issued flat, many mylars were subsequently folded after their initial use by theater managers for storage. This is what they did when they were done with them. Difficult to photograph because it has a shiny mirror like finish. The Mylar Advance was the FIRST theater issued poster for Star Wars. The "W' in the STAR WARS logo is different and was later changed. This particular poster is UNUSED No pin holes, no tape, no tears. There are no known bootlegs or reprints of this poster. You will not find a nicer one anywhere.

Unused!! Well preserved. Very little general storage wear. Some very light ripples in the mylar (we have never seen a perfect mylar without ripples), most notably across the top through the word "TO" and across the bottom through "WARS". This was stored rolled but lying flat, so there are light "waves", but these won't be visible when framed. The picture shown was taken on a vacuum table where it is pulled flat. Click here to see what the waves look like when it is not pulled flat. If you look carefully you can see that it was cut slightly uneven on the top right. It has NOT been trimmed, it was originally cut that way when it was printed.

One of the RAREST original Star Wars movie posters. These hardly ever surface. The initial theatrical release of Star Wars was so popular that some theaters were still playing it a year after it first came out in 1978! This poster was issued to those few theaters. It is rumored that there were only 250 printed. Almost impossible to find.

Rolled, never folded. Well preserved. Very little general storage wear. An accumulation of very minor defects that won't really be noticeable when framed. PLEASE BE AWARE that the following defects can't be seen in the photo: Wrinkles on the edges (white border only), pin holes in the corners, and a 1/2" tear on the right side white border. No tape.

We recommend displaying this "as is" in an archival frame. If you'd like it to look "perfect" you can always get it LINEN BACKED and then display it. We do not recommend getting this one linen backed as it displays nicely in it's current unrestored condition. The minor defects will be hardly noticeable when framed.

This is what all you STAR WARS fans have been waiting for! This is considered by many collectors to be the ultimate STAR WARS poster! This is a genuine 28" x 41" U.S. one sheet ORIGINAL MOVIE POSTER PRINTER'S PROOF. Rolled, never folded. These hardly ever surface. The initial theatrical release of Star Wars was so popular that some theaters were still playing it a year after it first came out! This poster was issued to those few theaters. Long time Star Wars poster experts have always said that there were only 250 to 500 regular issue (non proofs) printed. Please be aware that there is no way that anyone can absolutely confirm this. Almost impossible to find!! This is an uncut PRINTERS PROOF!! There are just a handful of proofs in existence of this one sheet!!

Straight from a former employee who used to work at Gore Graphics in the 1970's. Gore Graphics printed many of the posters for the National Screen Service. We have a few other proofs from this source, and some of them are one of a kind!

Before a poster was printed in large quantities, the printer would print a limited number of test posters. Commonly, they would leave the color chart on the left edge of the poster, which added an extra inch to the width of the poster (which explains why the poster measures 28" x 41"). These would then be shown to people in a position to "OK" them. Once they were approved, the final posters would be printed and the proofs normally were destroyed. A printer's proof is far more rare than a regular one sheet poster, and there is no fear of purchasing a reproduction.

These can be very difficult to find in any condition! A long time can go by without one of these coming up for sale. You will have trouble finding a nicer one.

All reputable dealers and advanced collectors believe that this poster WITHOUT the GAU logo is a bootleg/fake/restrike. Its origin is not known for sure, but it is believed that sometime during the early 1980's some unscrupulous printers got their hands on the original printing plates and ran off thousands of these (as well as the Star Wars Style A and C). It is a very convincing bootleg and is almost indistinguishable from the original. The easiest way to tell is by the absence of the GAU logo. The paper is also thicker and overall the graphics are a little blurrier. They usually appear rolled, but some people have folded them to make them appear more authentic. Criminals on ebay are now describing them as "lightly folded".......this means they have a ton of rolled ones they can't sell so now they are folding them themselves!! STAR WARS STYLE A ONE SHEET INFORMATION

The Style A one sheet is the most well known, most collected, most reprinted, and most bootlegged movie poster in history. Just about everyone knows this image. Because there was an extremely high demand for the Style A one sheet back in 1977 when the film was released, there are 4 kinds of original versions. They all have slightly different markings on the very bottom:

Version 1. Has across the bottom border "one sheet - style A" and the NSS number as "77/21-0". Most experts believe that this is the first printing, and there is a lot of "circumstantial evidence" to support this, but, this can not be said with 100% certainty. Because of this belief, this poster commands a premium over the other versions. There is a bootleg of this version! The infamous "Luke's Hairy Belt" bootleg.

Version 2. Has "one sheet - style 'A'" across the bottom border with the NSS number as "77/21" and "Star Wars" written under it in a funky looking typestyle. It is believed by some that this may be the first printing, although this can not be proven. This version has NO known bootlegs.

Version 3. Has "one sheet - style 'A'" across the bottom border with the NSS number as "77/21".

Version 4. Doesn’t have the tag but just the NSS number "77/21" and "Star Wars" written under it.

This one sheet was issued measuring 27x41 and was usually folded. Rolled ones do exist but they are quite rare. Always be very careful when purchasing a rolled Star Wars poster due to the many known reprints and bootlegs. There are a ton of rolled ones that are not original and are from the 1980's Fan Club. These are a full 27x41 and look almost identical to originals except they have a hair on Luke's belt area picture.  The most common one sheet reprints measure 27x40 instead of 27x41. Some criminals carefully lightly hand fold the bootlegs to make them appear more authentic...so beware!!

BEWARE of 27"x41" Card Stock Style A One Sheets

They are Video Release posters from the 1980's.

All original release 27x41 Style A one sheets from 1977 are on regular paper stock.

The only "original" one sheets from the 1977 theatrical release that are on CARD STOCK measure 30"x40".

The 27x41 VIDEO card stock posters appear VIRTUALLY IDENTICAL to the original release 1977 one sheet.

They were printed for VIDEO STORES when Star Wars was released on video in the 1980's.

They have all the correct NSS markings and a 77/21 NSS number. They are VERY misleading!!

The only real noticeable printing difference is that under the artwork on the left, the VIDEO poster says "© 1977 Lucasfilm LTD".

On the 1977 original release one sheet it says "© 1977 Twentieth Century Fox".

BEWARE of 24"x36" and 27"x40" Star Wars Posters

All original release theater issued Star Wars and The Empire Strikes Back ONE SHEETS will measure 27x41, not 24"x36", not 27"x40".

ALL 24" x 36" AND ALL 27" x 40" POSTERS ARE REPRINTS AND WORTH VIRTUALLY NOTHING.

They were not issued to theaters, they were sold in stores.

The nicest one we have ever seen! Perfect. Guaranteed to be an original theatrical release movie poster issued at the time of the films initial release. The 30x40 was not printed in any where near the quantities of the regular US one sheet and is EXTREMELY RARE COMPARED TO A ONE SHEET. A vertical format American movie poster printed on a very heavy card stock material. Most 30" x 40"’s feature the same artwork as the one sheet and were issued rolled to the theatre exchanges. The National Screen Service number is normally found on the side on the poster, as opposed to the lower bottom as is the case with one-sheets. VERY difficult to find in Near Mint condition because the card stock can crease easily. Does not need to be backed or restored. Studios have stopped issuing these.

The regular Style C without the PG RATING is extremely rare itself and had a print run of around 500. It was issued for international use only so it did not need the U.S. PG Rating. There are zillions of bootlegs/restrikes of that version. This version with the PG rating is incredibly rare! It has been said that well under 100 are in existence. After Star Wars became a phenomenon, this PG rated version was issued for a few Special U.S. theater engagements only. There are NO KNOWN bootlegs of this version with the PG RATINGS BOX. Small 1/2" clean tear on bottom border repaired on the back with acid free non stick tape.

All reputable dealers and advanced collectors believe that this poster WITH THE HAIR ON LEIA'S BACK is a bootleg/fake/restrike. Its origin is not known for sure, but it is believed that sometime during the early 1980's some unscrupulous printers got their hands on the original printing plates and ran off thousands of these (as well as the Star Wars Style A and B). It is a very convincing bootleg and is almost indistinguishable from the original. The paper is also thicker and overall the graphics are a little blurrier. They usually appear rolled, but some people have folded them to make them appear more authentic. Criminals on ebay are now describing them as "lightly folded".......this means they have a ton of rolled ones they can't sell so now they are folding them themselves!! EXTREMELY RARE COMPARED TO A ONE SHEET. Primarily offered for major motion pictures only, these were displayed both inside and outside of theaters A 40x60 would cost the theater up to 20 times as much as a one sheet to rent. For most titles only a few hundred were usually printed, and it was only printed once. Unlike the one sheet which was printed in quantities of 10,000 and up. VERY difficult to find in Near Mint condition because the card stock can crease easily.

The regular Spanish one sheet with different Hildebrandt artwork is extremely rare itself. This is the first time we have even SEEN a Spanish Style C. According to starwarsmovieposter.com there were only about 200 (yes 200!) printed and most were never distributed (there is no way to confirm this info., but we have no reason to doubt it). AND THIS IS A PRINTER'S PROOF!!! This is given 9 out of 10 stars for scarcity and value appreciation in the official 2005 Star Wars Poster Book published by Lucasfilm.

About Printer's Proofs: Before a poster was printed in large quantities, the printer would print a limited number of test posters. Commonly, they would leave the color chart on the left edge of the poster, which added an extra inch to the width of the poster (which explains why the poster measures 28" x 41"). These would then be shown to people in a position to "OK" them. Once they were approved, the final posters would be printed and the proofs normally were destroyed. A printer's proof is far more rare than a regular one sheet poster, and there is no fear of purchasing a reproduction.

We can't be certain EXACTLY what this is, but in our opinion it is some sort of test proof. It definitely is from the right time period as it has aged a bit with the paper not being bright white (this can't really be seen in the photo). There are some minor signs of use including a little bit of scotch tape residue on the back and a little bit of border wear/wrinkles. A 2" tear on the top border has been repaired by us on the back with acid free archival removable tape. This is only the second one that we know of ever to surface!! This is similar to the style A Recalled U.S. "Gone With the Wind" one sheet, however there is some additional artwork that DOES include Billy Dee Williams!!! Extraordinarily rare. A perfect candidate for Linen Backing.

This is a genuine 27"x41" U.S. one sheet ORIGINAL MOVIE POSTER issued by the studio when the film was released and meant for theatrical display. This poster has been Linen Backed and is ready for framing. This is the studio issued one sheet, not the NSS one sheet. Studio issued posters were sometimes sent to theaters along with NSS issued ones. They are often rolled, not folded. This one is rolled and was used in a theater. Typical very minor touch up/restoration. Creases were at the top and bottom white borders where it was clamped in the display case, but these can barely be seen now. Looks beautiful!! Well preserved.

US One Sheet Style A 30X40 ROLLED CARDBOARD STOCK "Gone with the Wind" NM C9 $895.00     Special Order       

EXTREMELY RARE COMPARED TO A ONE SHEET. A vertical format American movie poster measuring 30" x 40" printed on a very heavy card stock material. Most 30" x 40"’s feature the same artwork as the one sheet and were issued rolled to the theatre exchanges. The National Screen Service number is normally found on the side on the poster, as opposed to the lower bottom as is the case with one-sheets. VERY difficult to find in Near Mint condition because the card stock can crease easily. Studios have stopped issuing these. The print run for most 30x40's was usually just a few hundred, making them much rarer than 27x41 paper one sheets.

Gently used and well preserved. Very little general storage wear. Some white archival tape remnants on bottom border from when it was framed and some touch up work done on Han Solo's hair. These defects can only be seen upon extremely close inspection.

An extremely popular and very rare HORIZONTAL format American movie poster measuring approx. 41" x 54". Subway sheets are printed on a thicker paper than one-sheets. Most contain the same artwork as the advance materials, and are almost always issued as "advances." They are most often found in subway displays. These posters can be either rolled or folded. Some collectors like the subway sheet because there are fewer of them released. They are somewhat large and cumbersome, but because they are printed on a thick paper, they are more durable. Still used today. HIGHLY DESIRED DUE TO ITS HORIZONTAL FORMAT AND EXTREME SCARCITY!
